
About the Role
SOFtoSOM is seeking a dynamic and mission-driven Social Media Manager to lead our online presence and community engagement. This role is responsible for creating and executing content strategies that amplify our mission of supporting SOF (Special Operations Forces) medics transitioning into medical careers. The ideal candidate is passionate about military medicine, understands the SOF community, and can craft compelling digital narratives that resonate with our audience.
Requirements
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Content Strategy & Creation:Â
Develop and execute a content calendar across LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and other relevant platforms.Â
Create engaging and informative posts, including graphics, videos, and written content that highlight SOFtoSOM’s mission, success stories, educational resources, and events.Â
Ensure all content aligns with brand voice and messaging while maintaining authenticity to the SOF community.
Community Engagement & Growth:Â
Monitor and actively engage with followers, answering questions and fostering discussions.Â
Build relationships with SOF personnel, veterans, and medical professionals to expand SOFtoSOM’s reach.
Identify and collaborate with influencers, partners, and organizations that align with SOFtoSOM’s mission.
Performance Analysis & Optimization:Â
Track key performance metrics, including engagement, reach, and follower growth.
Analyze data to refine content strategy and improve audience engagement.
Provide regular reports on social media performance and insights.
Brand & Mission Advocacy:
Stay informed on trends in military medicine, SOF transitions, and medical education to provide relevant and valuable content.
Represent SOFtoSOM’s mission and values in all digital interactions.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in social media management, content creation, or digital marketing (preferably in military, healthcare, or non-profit sectors).
Strong understanding of the SOF community and military transition landscape.
Excellent writing, storytelling, and visual content creation skills.
Proficiency in social media management tools and analytics platforms.
Ability to work independently.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
Marketing and/or social media management experience (REQUIRED)
Experience working in a nonprofit or volunteer-driven organization (Preferred).
TIME COMMITMENT
Estimated 4-5 hours per week, with flexibility depending on project needs.
Attendance at monthly/quarterly staff meetings (Required).
Available for ad hoc posting support, as needed.
